Ritchie Richmond

I’m still waiting on the first hand account of the wild finish at Richmond this week from our very own reporter in the field, but as far as I could tell from T.V. land Kyle Busch probably needed a police escort out of that place. The intense last twenty laps of the race created havoc in the fantasy standings. A record breaking performance by Burns turned into an extremely close event loss when Denny Hamlin (who after breaking the track's laps lead record suffered a right front tire problem with about 20 laps to go) fell to the back of the field opening the door for DEJ and Kyle Busch. The battle for first ended in Junior being spun out with only 11 laps to go and after the caution was raised it was Clint Bowyer who capitalized on the incident to take the win and give Team Case the event win by a close 11 point margin. Congratulations to Bryan for being the first one to attend an RFC event, and I can guarantee he won’t be the last. From what I can gather he had a pretty good time and even got to watch his new acquisition Kurt Busch pull out an astonishing 42nd place finish when he wrecked right in from of his new owner. Luckily Bryan only traded The Mexican for Busch, who didn’t have any more of a stellar finish (and yes Bryan did have the people around him calling Montoya “The Mexican”, good work Bryan). While there were no upsets this week (all four top teams beat all four bottom teams) there was one record that was broken which is worth a mention and that is that Sack managed to score the LOWEST total for a week with a whopping 202 points! He managed to start 4 drivers who finished in the bottom 35 (and his benched driver was just as bad finishing 37th). To put this in perspective, the chance of picking those dirvers is the same as picking five drivers in the top 9 and Sack's total team score of 202 was only 12 points better than the single score for the winner of the race Clint Bowyer who scored 190 points for Team Case. For a full four driver field that is an impressive feat and a record that I guarantee will stand for a long time.
